Adult Foster Care Homes

Most seniors strive to stay in their own home for as long as they can. This can become complicated or unsafe though, for a variety of reasons. Unreliable help, uncovered day shift caregivers, lapse of caregivers, undocumented medication management, etc. When this occurs, adult care homes are a wonderful option to consider. Written here is a brief overview of this care setting as well as basic guidelines to help you select one if needed. Please remember, our office is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist with a placement or to answer questions regarding your loved ones.

We recommend that families research this Public Disclosure File for the foster care homes they intend to move their loved ones in. Please keep in mind that as a Placement Agency, A Better Way of Living, LLC, has researched this file for you and will recommend only the homes that have a good reputation for care giving. If a home has a multiple complaint record, the affiliated county and ombudsmen will generally keep an eye on that care home to ensure that such complaints are not substantiated and to correct their actions if it is substantiated. Not all complaints are substantiated. Many foster care homes will have some complaints on their record, however that complaint may not be substantiated (or found to be true) by the county. Families should look at the multiple complaints of the same nature for the same foster care home to raise suspicion.

Please keep in mind that Foster Care Homes are private home settings of families and undergo scrutiny by some people for every private action. This is a care giving business but at the same time, it is a private family home that partakes in every-day activities.

We participate in the Better Business Bureau's Membership Identification Program. This means that we have committed to cooperating with BBB efforts to resolve disputes.  Any dispute arising out of this contract is subject to legally binding arbitration through the BBB arbitration program.
